As Jerash was once a flourishing city during the Roman Empire, and its ruins are now one of the best-remained examples of the Roman architecture, also it has a rich Islamic heritage. After the Islamic conquering of the region in the 7th century, Jerash became an important center of Islamic learning and culture.
