Ruma National Park
Ruma National Park is the only terrestrial park in Kenya, It is one of the oldest sanctuary in Africa covering an area of 120 Kilometers, the park is known for it’s rare animals which are subject to extension.
Location:
Ruma National Park is located in Kericho County, the county is located in the highlands of west Kenya. Kericho is the most productive and visited city in Kenya as it has several tourist attractions. The park is very is close to the beautiful Victoria lake.
Wild life and animals:
People from all over the world come to the Ruma Park to the rare roan antelope, include other species like Jackson’s hartebeest, black rhino, Johor reedbuck, Burchell’s Zebra, and several species bufallos. And if you are luck you might see Rothschild giraffes race also you will have the chance to see Vervet monkeys, Leopards. Woodlands and rolling Savannah mainly cover the land of the park.
Birds
There are more than 400 species of birds recorded in the park. The park is known for intra migration of blue sparrow between June and August.
Best time to visit
The best time to visit Kenya is during the dry season from the end of June till the end of October and in January and February, this period is the best wildlife viewing time. And if you are interested in birds it is recommended to do the visit in September or October, it is the time when the migratory birds from Europe and northern Africa are present.
How to reach the park:
The main airport in Kenya is Jomo Kenyatta International airport which is 426 km located from the park and from there you can arrange a domestic flight to Homa Bay airport which is 5 Km from the park or you can arrange car transfer from Jomo.

Kenya is generally safe to visit. The tourist industry over there is very established as there are more than a million tourists visit Kenya every year, and the vast majority of visits are trouble-free.
