 “Nuwara Eliya” The Tea Capital of Sri Lanka, located at the height of 1889 m, Nuwara Eliya or “the City of Light” and is situated in central Sri Lanka on the hills of tea and surrounded by large spaces of greenery. Because of the ideal and the beautiful scenery of Nuwara Eliya, it is often called "Little England," by many people because it was once home to the British as well as its magnificent buildings and distinctive entertainment places that made them define the city as little of England in regards to its beauty. The Nuwara Eliya is one of the most popular destinations in the country as well as Asia.
 

The history of Nuwara Eliya:

 Many people assume that Nuwara Eliya was created by two British officers who lost their lives in the town while chasing the Elephants. The rest of the British officers told the  British Governor Sir Edward Barnes and he agreed to spend his life in Nuwara Eliya and to set up a well-known health resort. After a number of years, English pastimes sports like golf, fox hunting, polo, etc. has been popular in the city and it became the main place in the Region for that sport. The archaeological importance of Nuwara Eliya is represented in prehistoric human remains. The town represents even the modern colonial age as well.

Hakgala Botanical Garden:

 The Hakgala Botanical Garden is located 10 km southeast in Nuwara Eliya at the foot of Hakgala Rock. It was originally established in 1860 as an experimental farm, and is now one of the most important tourist destinations in Sri Lanka, covering about 27 hectares. It is divided into sections: roses, ferns, orchids, and more of the distinctive scenes, and gives you the opportunity to record the most beautiful and unforgettable memories among the unique plants.

Victoria Park is one of the beautiful places worth visiting in Nuwara Eliya, as this large park is located in the city centre and has many aspects of nature and entertainment places, including a playground and a garden for birds and flowers so that people describe it as “one of the most beautiful parks in South Asia,” and indeed Victoria Park is a beautiful place to hang out and spend the happiest happy times, whether you are alone or with your family accompanied by children, which makes it a diverse tourist destination that meets all the needs of visitors, whatever their needs and tastes are.

Lake Gregory:

Just a few kilometres from the city centre Another beautiful place to visit in Nuwara Eliya is Lake Gregory that was established during the reign of British Governor Sir William Gregory in 1873, and which awaits its visitors with lots of varied recreational opportunities, including kayaking, and boating.  As well as horseback riding for small children and strolling on the banks of the lake among the wonderful nature scenes, as well as that if you are a fan of tranquillity, you can even relax on one of the benches near that lake and in harmony with nature away from the hustle and bustle of major cities. In the vicinity of the lake, there are distinctive food restaurants, which are a beautiful place to spend funny times, after enjoying the lake throughout the day.

The climate in Nuwara Eliya is pleasant, warm, and overcast. Throughout the year, the temperature varies from 47°F to 72°F and is rarely below 42°F or above 79°F. Based on the tourism score, the best time of year to visit Nuwara Eliya for warm-weather activities is from late February to early June.
