Many people travel the world but how many truly get to experience the country and truly get to know what it is all about. Well, that is exactly what we've set out to do with our 14-day tour of Bhutan and the Captivating Andaman Islands. Explore the true treasures of Bhutan on a journey that combines the best attractions inland and by the sea, as you explore exotic sites such as Kolkata, Punakha, The Glenburn Penthouse, St John’s Church & the Punakha Dzong among others.
Upon your arrival in Kolkata, our representative will assist you with your airport procedures post landing.
Next, you will be transferred to your hotel.
Later in the evening treat yourself with a traditional Bengali meal in a local Calcutta household.
Overnight: Glenburn Penthousen
After breakfast, start the city visiting several tourist hot spots such as St John’s Church, Belur Math Victoria, Memorial among others.
Later in the evening, you will enjoy a cruise along the Hooghly River as we make our way to the Dakdhineswar Temple.
Even later on in the evening, we will be remembering an influential figure as we pay homage to the charitable contributions of Mother Teresa, visiting her mission, house.
Finally, we will end the day with visits after visiting the Kalighat Kali Temple, Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Jain Temple and Nakhoda Mosque.
You will be spending the first day of your tour in the city of Thimpu, Butan but first you will be taken to Kolkata airport to catch the flight to Paro, where our representative will meet and accompany you to your hotel in Thimphu.
The city tour will cover these famous tourist hot spots: Simply Bhutan Museu, The Institute for Zorig Chusum, The Textile Museum & The National Library among others.
Once we've had some delicious local lunch we will continue our exploration of Bhutan as we visit Pangri Zampa, Buddha Point as we take glimpses of the valley and its picturesque beauty.
We will end our tour with a visit to Trashichhoedzong.
After breakfast, it will be time to drive to Punakha for a day of discovery across Douchula after you check-in into your hotel.
The evening will be spent exploring Pynakha, a village located on the banks of the river.
Today will be a light day of touring and exploring Chimi Lhakhang, which is 15 minutes from the hotel.
We will then walk through the paddy fields of the area on route to Punakha Dzong.
Some optional activities that might prove worth: the White Water Rafting experience down the Mo Chhu and Samdingkha rivers or an amazing Mountain biking tour through Downhills & Up slopes.
After breakfast we will drive to Paro, passing by the dramatic Ang Chhu & Paro Chhu river valleys. On the way we will stop tol visit the SImtokha Dzong.
After breakfast, we will visit the Taktshang Monastery, making a stop at Drukgyel Dzong as we head back to town.
Another great landmark we will be checking out today will be the seventh-century Kyichu Lhakhang.
Finally, we will be spending the evening exploring the main street and the adjacent market area.
Today we will leave Paro behind and be transferred to the airport to catch your flight To Kolkata, where upon arrival you will meet up with our representative who will accompany you to your hotel.
Today is a free day, in other words, it's your chance to draw your own path of exploration, here are some ideas to help you make the most of your adventure:
A village visit is one of those truly amazing places anyone can get the chance to see in the West Bengal area, so take to the streets and wander among the locals as you explore there daily routine, habits and warm hospitality.
Culinary adventure, a great Idea for all you foodies out there. Explore the aromatic and mouthwatering cuisine of West Bengal and the many types of products they use. Get tutored by a local shop on the secrets of preparing a Mishti Doi, a classic Bengali dessert.
Once you've had the chance to enjoy your local breakfast it is time to check out of your hotel and make our way towards Kolkata airport for your connecting flight to Port Blair, where upon arrival you will be greeted by our representative and accompanied to your hotel.
Today will mainly revolve around two activities with the rest of the agenda fully optional. Early morning, a 60-minute session of group yoga & a hearty breakfast.
As for the remaining activities for you to choose or not choose from, they are as follows:
- Bird watching & Stargazing. Both activities and practices in patience, the sharpness of observation and just reconnecting and truly appreciating the beauty & diversity of our world & the clear unpolluted Andaman skies. The first will be held in Jakarta, heaven of Bird life and home to some of the rarest birds.
- R&R at the Hotel spa. This will be perfect for those of you who just want to kick back and pamper themselves. Leave yourself on the hands of Jakarta's trained professionals for therapeutic deep tissue massage, relaxing aromatherapy body massage, restorative Reiki, head & shoulder massage and reflexology foot massage.
Same as the day before, this will be another free day in your giving you the chance to either stay at the hotel or joining amazing activities.
The first activity that comes to mind would be to check out the infinity pool in Jakarta and its tiles of Italian mosaic and Indian Granite.
If you're into movies and music, you must check out the poolside music system, maybe if you can rock your tunes or watch one of the timeless pieces of cinematography on the hotel's high definition film projector.
After breakfast you will be transferred to Port Blair and to the airport to catch the flight back home.
