Discovery of Mexico Tour

7 days in Mexico exploring Mexico City and its surroundings. Itinerary at a Glance

Day 1: Arrival in Mexico City

Upon your arrival at the airport in Mexico City, the tour representative will assist you and escort you to your hotel.

Spend the day at leisure. 

In the evening, you will dine at the restaurant Villa Maria Restaurant and enjoy music from Veracruz and mariachis.

 

Day 2: Mexico City Tour

After breakfast starts your Mexico City Tour. This city offers so much to see. Let's check out the Plaza de la Constitución or Zocalo stands out, the National Palace (and if open admire the murals of Diego Rivera), the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Old Major Temple Azteca city (exterior only) and walk along the Reforma Avenue and the Chapultepec Park. 

Finally, it is time to explore one of the most famous museums in the world. Next you can spend the rest of the day at leisure to either continuing explore this or other museums, such as the Museum of the Aztec Mayor's Temple.

 

Day 3: Pyramids of Teotihuacan | Basilica of Guadalupe

In the morning,  we will go to Tlatelolco and visit the square of the three cultures, which in the past was a marketplace during the Aztec empire.

Time to continue to the archaeological zone of Teotihuacán. There we will explore many pre-hispanic monuments that date from the 100-200 AC, such as the Pyramid of the Sun, the Pyramid de la Luna, the Avenue of the Dead, the Citadel, the Temple of Quetzalcóatl and the Palace of the Butterflies. 

After lunch we will return to Mexico City and visit the Basilica of Guadalupe. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. 

 

Day 4: Cuernavaca tour | Taxco tour | Return to Mexico City

On this day we will visit Cuernavaca, known as "City of Eternal Spring". Enjoy a city tour that includes the exterior of the Cortés Palace and the oldest cathedral in Mexico. 

Next it is time to explore the lovely town of Taxco and its narrow windy streets. There you will visit the Church of Santa Prisca, the Plaza Borda, the Municipal Palace and the silver shops, as the town is rich with silver mines. 

After lunch at a restaurant we will return to Mexico City and you can spend time at leisure.

 

Day 5: Cholula tour | Santa María Tonantzintla tour | Puebla tour | Return to Mexico City

After breakfast, let's enjoy some time in nature. The Ixtacihuatl forests offer fantastic views of the mythical Popocatepetl volcano, and from there we continue to Cholula, an archaeological area. Explore its pyramid and the church.

We will then pass by the village of Santa Maria Tonantzintla to visit its church of the Baroque-style before moving to Puebla. We will explore the historic centre, the cathedral, the Palafoxiana library and the temple of Santo Domingo and the chapel of the rosary, one of the highest points of Mexican architecture heritage. 

Time for lunch at a local restaurant and return to Mexico City. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 6: Coyoacán tour | Xochimilco tour | Return to Mexico City

On this day we will visit Coyoacán. The town was incorporated to Mexico City and is known as a historic centre. There we will explore the Church of San Juan Bautista, the former house of Hernán Cortes and the house Museum of Frida Kahlo also called the Blue House. 

Next, we will go to Xochimilco and visit the Autonomous University of Mexico where is displayed works of Juan O'Gorman, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and others. Next, visit to the University Stadium, where the 1968 Olympic Games took place. Besides that, Xochimilco offers a beautiful scenario for walks along its canals. 

Return to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. 

Day 7: Final Departure

We will transfer you to the airport for your final departure. End of the tour.
