Itinerary at a Glance

Day 1 : Arrival

Upon your arrival at Tunis airports, you will be welcome by our driver and transferred to the hotel.

Dinner and overnight in Tunis.

Day 2: Tunis | Carthage | Sidi Bou Saïd | Bardo Museum | Medina

After breakfast, visit Sidi Bou Said, a picturesque small town bordered by white-washed houses with blue shutters and doors. Check out the various art galleries and try some mint tea in one of the traditional street cafes while enjoying the superb view of the gulf of Tunisia. Then, spend some leisure time to indulge in shopping.

Departure to Explore Carthage, UNESCO's World Heritage Site and the capital of ancient Carthaginian Empire. Visit Byrsa Hill to see the ruins of Roman buildings, the Carthage Museum, the Antonine Baths, (a huge Roman bath complex on the edge of the Mediterranean), the theatre and the Punic Port.

Lunch at the restaurant.

Visit to Bardo Museum, one of the best archaeological museums in the Mediterranean, well-known for its beautiful collection of mosaics. 

Finally, explore the Medina of Tunis, which includes the Medina, the ‘European’ quarter built at the beginning of the 20th century and the new modern suburbs.We will stop by the Zaitouna Mosque (from outside), mosque of Sidi Mehrez and the mausoleum of the Husaini Des princes.

Return to the hotel. Dinner and accommodation in Tunis.

Day 3: Cap Bon | Hammamet

After breakfast, departure to visit Kerkouane. On this archaeological site on the seafront are the best-preserved remains of the Carthaginian civilization: the ruins of a small city, with houses, a temple and ramparts.

Continuation to El Haouaria, situated at the tip of the Cap Bon peninsula, a pretty blue and white village adjacent to imposing mines dating from Antiquity.

Lunch at the restaurant (Fish menu).

Departure to Kelibia, a charming fishing port close to a historic vestige and beautiful beaches that is noteworthy for its 12th century fort overlooking a magnificent panorama of the sea from the top of a hill.

Continuation to Nabeul, an important handicrafts center most famous for pottery, distilled water from orange flowers, its roses and jasmine plants. It is a great town of trade with many specialties: pottery, matting of rush, embroidery, wrought iron. Visit to the market where the delectable produce overflows from the colorful stalls charged with citrus fruit, strawberries or fragrant flowers to be distilled.

Visit the Medina of Hammamet and check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Hammamet.

Day 4: Hammamet | Kairouan |  Sbeitla | Tozeur

After breakfast, checkout and departure to explore Kairouan, the city which rises like a dream of ochre and tawny beige, bearing in its serenity 13 centuries of Islamic culture. Visit to the Great Mosque of Uqba Bin Nafi and to Sidi Sahbi  Mausoleum, which houses the tomb of one of Prophet Mohammed's companions known as the Barbe and the Aghlabids pools.

We will proceed to Sbeitla. Lunch at the restaurant and then visit the Roman ruins of Sbeitla. One of the few ancient Roman cities that is famous not only for its strategic role but also its politics and economy have played a major role during antiquity.

Departure for Tozeur, one of the famous oases in the world, which is surrounded by 200 springs. It is sheltered by a palm grove of more than 1000 ha – about 400.000 palm trees and world-renowned dates, also known as deglet Nour, which means “fingers of light”. 

Check in at the hotel, dinner and overnight in Tozeur.

Day 5: Tozeur | Chebika | Tamerza | Mides | Tozeur | Ong Jmel

After breakfast, departure in 4X4 to visit the oases of Chebika/Tamerza/Midès. The refreshing water rushes over an imposing waterfall to form a wadi surrounded by palm trees at  the bottom of a gorge. Tamerza looks barricaded by its mountain range, as if suspended on the side of a vast canyon with commanding views over the vast plains as  far as the Chott and the sand hills. The old village, which is now abandoned, stretches the length of the palm grove, is surrounded by stunning waterfalls. Finally,  there is Midès, the most impressive of these oases, which overlooks a breathtakingly high canyon.

Return to Tozeur and lunch in Eden Palm. Visit the park and enjoy 1h carriage riding.

Continuation to Ong Jmel and visit to Star Wars filming location. Enjoying the sunset on the dunes.

Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Tozeur | Douz | Matmata | Sfax

After breakfast, checkout and proceed to Douz, which is a small town that appears to be plopped down amidst the dunes that is known as  the "gateway to the Sahara". In ancient times, it was an important stop on the trans-Saharan caravan routes. Stop for a photo in Chott El Jerid and 1h camel riding on the dunes.

Continuation to Matmata. Explore its famous troglodytes, underground houses built to protect the Berbers from the intense heat in the summer. Visit the Berber Museum in Tamezret.

Lunch and visit to the troglodyte village.

Departure to Sfax. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Sfax.

Day 8: Sousse | Medina of Sousse

Breakfast and visit of the Medina of Sousse, the 3rd-largest city in Tunisia. The Medina of Sousse is one of the UNESCO's World Heritage Sites in Tunisia. Explore the ramparts, walls that enclose certain parts of the city and the 13th-century Ribath.

Return to the hotel in Sousse. After lunch, enjoy free afternoon.

Dinner and overnight in Sousse.

Day 9: Sousse | Zaghouan | Thuburbo Majus | Dougga

After breakfast, departure to visit Zaghouan, which lies seductively on a few hills below the dramatic Zaghouan Mountain. It was an important town in Roman times, then known as Ziqua, administering one of the most important water resources for Carthage.

Departure to visit Thuburbo Majus, which has roman remains dating back to the end of the 2nd century, such as the capitol, forum, temples, thermes, and private homes with mosaics.

Lunch at the hotel Thugga Teboursouk. After, visit the archeological site of Dougga: one of the biggest and best-preserved of all the Roman sites in Africa. 

Continuation to Tunis. Farewell dinner at a luxury restaurant in Tunis.

Day 10: Final Departure

After your breakfast,  transfer to the International Airport of Carthage for your final departure.
