Itinerary at a Glance

Day 1 : Arrival

Arrival to Tunis airport, welcome by our driver.

Transfer to the hotel, dinner and overnight in Tunis.
 

Day 2: Tunis | Bardo Museum | Carthage |Sid Bou Said

After breakfast, departure to explore Carthage (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Visit Byrsa Hill to see the ruins of Roman buildings and Carthage Museum. See the Tophet, where urns containing the ashes and milk teeth of 8th century BC children have been unearthed. Visit the Antonine Baths, a huge Roman bath complex on the edge of the Mediterranean, visit the theatre and Punic Port. 

Continuation to Sidi Bou Said: stroll through the narrow streets of Sidi Bou Said, a picturesque small town bordered by white-washed houses with blue shutters and doors. Check out the various art galleries and try some mint tea in one of the traditional street cafes while enjoying the superb view of the gulf of Tunisia. Then, spend some leisure time to indulge in shopping. 

Visit of Bardo Museum, one of the best archaeological museums in the Mediterranean, which is especially well-known for its beautiful collection of mosaics. The museum is located in an old palace that belongs to the Beys, rulers of Tunisia. 

Next, visit Tunis Medina,, the ‘European’ quarter built at the beginning of the 20th century and the new modern suburbs.

Return to the hotel in Tunis followed by dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Tunis | Dougga | Kairouan

After breakfast, checkout and departure to visit the archaeological site of Dougga, covering some 60 acres and laid out on a steep slope some 2,000 feet above the plain, Dougga was known as the “city of temples.” Visit of Dougga’s theatre, which today is used for its Drama festival and accommodates almost 3,500 people.
Visit to the Temple of Saturn, which was found evidence of a pre-Roman sanctuary dedicated to the Carthaginian god Gal; and the Temples of Augustan Piety and  Mercury.

Proceed to Kairouan, one of the holiest sites in Islam and the spiritual home of all Tunisians. Behold the wondrous beauty of its mosques, the symphony of its columns and arches and the exquisite delicacy of the stone work. Visit Sidi Sahbi Mausoleum, which houses the tomb of one of Prophet Mohammed’s companions known as the Barber. Free time in the Medina.

Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight in Kairouan.

Day 4: Tozeur | Chebika | Tamerza | Mides | Ong Jmel

After breakfast, proceed in 4X4 to visit the Mountain oasis of Chebika/Tamerza/Midès. In Chebika, the refreshing water rushes over an imposing waterfall to form a wadi surrounded by palm trees at the bottom of a gorge. Tamerza looks barricaded by its mountain range, as if suspended on the side of a vast canyon with commanding views over the vast plains as far as the Chott and the sand hills. Finally, there is Midès, the most impressive of these oases which overlooks a breathtakingly high canyon. 

Continuation to Ong Jmel  and visit to the Star Wars movie filming place.

Return to Tozeur and have lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Medina of Tozeur and Dar Cherait museum.

Return to the hotel and have dinner.

Day 5: Tozeur | Chebika | Tamerza | Mides | Nefta | Tozeur

After breakfast, departure in 4X4 to visit the Mountain oasis of Chebika/Tamerza/ Midès. In Chebika, the refreshing water rushes over an imposing waterfall to form a wadi surrounded by palm trees at the bottom of a gorge. Tamerza looks barricaded by its mountain range, as if suspended on the side of a vast canyon with commanding views over the vast plains as far as the Chott and  the sand hills. The old village, which is now abandoned, stretches the length of the palm grove, is surrounded by stunning waterfalls. Finally, there is Midès, the most impressive of these oases which overlooks a breathtakingly high canyon.

Continuation to Nefta and visit the oasis. 

In the afternoon, visit the Dar Cheraot museum, the Eden Palm and the Medina of Tozeur.

Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight in Tozeur.

Day 6: Tozeur | Douz | Timbaine's Tent Camp

After breakfast, departure to Douz via the desert lake of Chott El Jerid.

Visit Douz, which is a small town that appears to be plopped down amidst the dunes that is known as the "gateway to the Sahara". In ancient times, it was an important stop on the transSaharan caravan routes.

Continuation in 4X4 to the desert camp Mars in Timbaine. Drive through Sahara’s desert road, get around Jebil National Park by passing dunes to finally arrive at Timbaine (the Land with no man). Possibility of Quad riding in the dunes and Camel riding near the Camp.

Check-in at Camp Mars Timbaine just in time to admire to sunrise.

Accommodation in private tent settled on the dunes, dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Camp Mars | Douz | Matmata | Sfax

After breakfast, return to Douz. Then we will go to Matmata, where was the setting of the film Star Wars. This village was named after the Berber tribe that inhabits the region is the largest of the troglodyte communities.

Visit the Berber Museum in Tamezret and discover its history. 

Continuation to Sfax and visit to the old Medina.

Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight in Sfax.

Day 8: Sfax | El Jem | Mahdia

After breakfast, departure to El Jem, enthralled by one of the world’s largest and most spectacular Roman Amphitheatre. Built in 238 AD,  it can hold up to 35,000 spectators. Nearby is the museum of El Jem,  which houses some lovely mosaics and the remains of some recently excavated luxury villas.

Continuation to Mahdia. This is a small city which keeps its original traditions: women cover themselves with gold jewelry and the houses are decorated with embroidered hangings. Its monumental gateway calls back to its glorious past: it was the first capital of the great Fatimid dynasty, who would go on to reign in Egypt and Syria. Its medina stretches out along a narrow peninsula, surrounded by deep blue waters; its sumptuous beaches delight the tourists. Visit the Medina and the fishing port.

Check-n at the hotel, dinner and overnight in Mahida.

Day 9: Mahdia | Monastir | Sousse | Port Kantaoui | Hammamet

After breakfast, departure to Monastir. Visit the Mausoleum Habib Bourguiba and the Ribat.

Continuation to Sousse, the 3rd largest city in Tunisia. The Medina of Sousse is one of the UNESCO's World Heritage Sites in Tunisia. Explore the ramparts, walls that enclose certain part of the city and the 13th century Ribath, an ancient rest stop for travelers, visit of Port El Kantaoui.

Departure to Hammamet. Check-in at the hotel, followed by dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Hammamet | Oudhna | Tunis

After breakfast, checkout and visit of Hammamet, a big sea-side resort known for its orange trees and fine sand beaches. Visit of the Old Medina: with waves sweeping against the ramparts and the imposing 15th Century fort, the Medina of Hammamet presents the visitor with the charm of its meandering streets where time seems to be at a stand still. Blue doors contrasting with the dazzlingly white walls guard the entrances to pretty boutiques and art galleries.

Departure to visit the ancient site of Oudhna. Its location between Tunis and Hammamet makes it a great tourist attraction.

Continuation to Tunis. Check-in at the hotel followed by dinner and overnight.

Day 11 : Final Departure

After breakfast, checkout and transfer to Tunis airport for your final departure.
