Extension to the Amazon Jungle

Itinerary at a Glance

Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Maldonado

You will arrive in Puerto Maldonado in the morning. You will be assisted at the airport and embark on a river boat until reaching our accommodation lodge. 

After lunch, your tour guide will accompany you in a tour into the wild. Once entering the jungle, you will see the tropical trees and plants. Finally, you will visit a shiringuero encampment, the place rubber is extracted from the trees. This is an important economic activity for the local communities. 

In the evening before dinner, enjoy a boat trip and have the opportunity to maybe spot some animals in the surroundings of the river.

Day 2: Puerto Maldonado      

Wake up early on this day as you will take a boat to Lake Sandoval. From there, we will hike 3km and on the way you will see the wild vegetation. We will reach Tambopata National Reserve, and you will see animals in their natural habitat, such as birds and different species of monkeys, and majestic trees. 

Let’s go for a river trip. We will embark on a small boat and observe a number of animals such as mammals, reptiles and the giant river otters. Stop for breakfast and return. 

After lunch, time to visit the towers of Corto Maltès Amazonía, where you can enjoy bird watching and the fabulous sunset.

Finally, visit to a Brazil nut camp. These nuts are one of main economic activities in the region.

Day 3: Puerto Maldonado      

After breakfast we will pay a visit to the Machiguengas. They are one of the indigenous groups in Peruvian Amazon, and this is a valuable opportunity to know more about how they live, their culture, values, ancestors, how they make their clothes and products. 

Next, down the river we will visit a family farm where you can have a taste of seasonal tropical fruits that are grown organically. 


Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner    

Day 4: Puerto Maldonado | Final Departure

After an early wake up, you will enjoy a short walk to a clay lick spot where parrots come to ingesting that particular type of clay. Other birds also join them and this results in a beautiful scene. 

You will be escorted back to Puerto Maldonado after breakfast. Enjoy a walk at the local market while waiting for your flight to your nest destination.
